The Routine

The Routine

What it is to be on a holiday around Aus…

When we first set up the tent, I was excited to get away from the house but after ninety odd setups we want to be back in a house, a real bed, some real walls. But that is yet to come…

The routine of a moving day is like this:

·         We wake up at 6:30 to 7:30, we then do everything we do on a normal day (brushing hair, doing breakfast and teeth etc).

·         Then we start the pack up and it normally takes 1hour and thirty minutes to finish,

·         We then hop in the car and go for the drive to our new place and pick our spot and sometimes we just get told our spot.

·         We then set up which normally takes 50 minutes with four of us and 1 hour for three (not including Mum who is usually working)

·         Then when we are done, we just finish our day like we were there at our campsite for days!

Some days we do school but it not like usual school because we don’t do all the stuff that school does. The things we do differently are:

·         We start at nine ‘o’clock and end at a time in the day before three and do lots of excursions.

·         We don’t do all the subjects in one day, we normally do a few*

·         We don’t work so long because there are no breaks so no friends to play with unless we find new friends to play with from our campsite.

We also see other places kids our age don’t normally get to see their whole life like Uluru and Kata-Tjuta and Broome as well as places like Alice Springs and more to come.

Most kids don’t get to go to the boxing day test (unless they live in Melbourne)!

But there are other down sides to being on holiday like you don’t usually get to see your friends and family. And sometimes I miss the schoolteachers.

We also like doing things like going on the computer and making new friends like in Denmark we had friends called Jacob and Alex and don’t forget Oliver!

*Normally three!

  • Won’t be long now Heidi and you’ll be back with all of your friends with plenty of stories to tell them.
