The weekend had us trying to take the weekend completely off working and to minimise the chores.
Sunday we tried the cheesery at Pyengana again and this time it was open. The cheeses did not disappoint, but we’d need to mortgage the camper to take too much away with us.
We ventured further down the same road to The Pub in the Paddock, which is well renowned for being a great spot and for having a large beer-drinking pig called Priscilla II.
We decided to have some lunch and an extra beer, and while we were there a helicopter came in and landed about 20m from our table.
The passengers disembarked and came in for lunch (they were in a pub-crawl of sorts). The pilot was just hanging about waiting and we started talking to him. He looked about 15 years old, and happened to be from Brisbane. He invited the kids into the chopper for a look and we had an interesting talk with him about his job – and then he said we should go further up the road to The Colombus Falls.
We followed his advice and had a pleasant walk down to the bottom of the impressive falls. There has been a lot of water dropped in the catchment, so I expect they were at their most impressive.
When we had previously tried to go to cheesery it had been closed due to flooding, but we went on the leach-infested walk to Halls Falls instead.
Heidi was wearing thongs which were clearly inappropriate in the conditions, but she had dressed for the cheesery.
Hamish’s sage advice to Heidi – Always wear proper shoes to the cheesery. Words to live by.
